Umm Waraqa came from the Ansar, the people of Madinah who welcomed the Muslim migrants. She accepted Islam after the migration and pledged to live by its teachings.

Work and legacy
Reports about prayer in her household became part of later legal discussions. Scholars differ over the reliability and meaning of those reports. They do not establish an agreed ruling that she led a mixed congregation.
